What is Maki-e art?
Maki-e is an ancient Japanese surface art decoration technique using lacquer and powdered gold, gold leaf or other metal to decorate traditional lacquerware.
It is also an essential part of Kintsugi mending process to finish the repaired ceramic surface in gold, to bring once damaged piece into a newbeautiful object.
In this workshop, you will decorate a ceramic piece which was damaged and repaired, and need a final touch of beautiful decoration using metalic powder, following the Maki-e technique to create own Kintsugi piece to take home.
Alternative safe materials and gold tone metal powder will be used.
